Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia (RHIYA)

Goal: To raise awareness among young people of sexual and reproductive health care in 7 countries in ASIA

Target beneficiaries:  10 to 24 years young people

Project briefing:  In 2003 RHIYA came to life of Bangladesh to raise awareness among young people of sexual and reproductive healthcare, changes in puberty, child marriage, early pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS and other health related matters that remain taboo subjects in family household and society at large. RHIYA reached out to young people by:

  • Creating an enabling environment for the provision of sexual and reproductive health information ,including support from community gatekeepers, parents and guardians

  • Equipping young people   with the appropriate knowledge , information and skills to address their  RH needs and concerns

  • Increasing the availability of quality, culturally and gender sensitive RH education, counseling and clinical services

  • Building the capacity of partner NGOs to provide youth-friendly quality clinical RH services and counseling

  • A delegation of 4 members of parliament from Europe visited The RHIYA field sites and expressed their full satisfaction to CWFD
