This initiative was undertaken in mid1980 to create job opportunities for women in a non- traditional sector. Initially 10 women from the slums with little education were trained in food preparation for parties, weddings, big gatherings and serving food which is traditionally the domain of male. Women were also trained in business planning and management, financial management, and catering. Working with the organization for several years, few of the women now manage their own business, work elsewhere and few are still working at CWFD “NIBEDITA RESTAURANT AND CATERING SERVICES”. This may be considered as a small business of CWFD though not making much profit. This restaurant and catering is run by all women and generates enough income to sustain the business. CWFD catering has a reputation of providing low cost, best quality delicious food.
