Humanitarian Programme

Humanitarian Response Program of CWFD

The Humanitarian Response program of CWFD has been working since 2020 in disaster-prone areas of Bangladesh. From July 2023 to June 2024, the following humanitarian projects have been implemented by CWFD:

  • Anticipatory Action Project-Implemented in Gaibandha, Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Kurigram

  • Saving lives and dignity of cyclone Mocha affected women, girls, gender-diverse populations, and persons with disabilities through multi-sectoral response to gender-based violence and addressing their sexual and reproductive health rights (Cyclone Mocha Project)- Implemented in Sabrang, Baharchara, Saint Martin and Teknaf Sadar of Teknaf Upazila, Cox’s Bazar
  • Emergency response to Flash Flood- Implemented in Bandarban (Sadar & Thanchi) & Cox’s Bazar (Chakaria)

  • Addressing protection and sexual and reproductive health needs of flash flood-affected women, adolescents, and transgenders, including pregnant women and women with disabilities (CHT Flashflood Response)- Implemented in Bandarban (Sadar & Lama) & Cox’s Bazar (Chakaria)
  • Emergency Response to Cyclone Remal – Implemented in Bagerhat (Mongla & Shoronkhola) and Satkhira districts (Shyamnagar)
  • Emergency response to Northeastern Flood– Implemented in Sunamganj district

Major activities of the above-mentioned projects included Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Kits distribution, cash support distribution, and in-kind support distribution to adolescent girls, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.

Female Underwear- 3 Pieces, Sanitary Pad (Joya Ultra -3 packets, Joya All night- 2 packets and Joya belt-3 packets), Soap- 2 Pieces, Soapcase-1, Detergent-500gm, Clip 12 pieces, Rope- 5 meters, festoon 1 piece and a MHM carrying bag.

Sanitary Pad – 06 Packets, Soap 100g – 02 Pack, Detergent Powder 500g – 01 Packet (USD 10$)

Provided Cash to the beneficiary for two-way transportation and purchasing MHM items (USD 20$)

2023 Humanitarian Response Efforts

During FY: July 23-June 24, six projects were carried out as part of humanitarian response efforts, including:

  • Anticipatory Action Project
  • Cyclone Mocha Response
  • Emergency Response to Flash Flood
  • CHT Flash Flood Response
  • Emergency Response to Cyclone Remal
  • Emergency response to Northeastern Flood

These projects involved a range of activities such as distributing Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) kits, sensitization meetings, training on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR), MHM, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), livelihood support, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) for beneficiaries. Additionally, certificates were distributed to participants as part of these initiatives.
