Humanitarian Programme

Humanitarian Response Program of CWFD

The Humanitarian Response program of CWFD has been working since 2020 in disaster-prone areas of Bangladesh. From January to July 2024, the following projects have been implemented by CWFD:

  • Addressing Protection and Sexual and Reproductive Health needs of Flash flood affected women, adolescents, transgender, including pregnant women – Implemented in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban districts
  • Immediate Response to Cyclone – Implemented in Bagerhat and Satkhira districts
  • Integrated GBV-SRH anticipatory actions to mitigate cyclone-induced potential risks on Women, Girls and third gender including pregnant women and persons with disability – Implemented in Bagerhat, Patuakhali, and Satkhira districts
  • Integrated GBV-SRH anticipatory actions to reduce flood impact on women, girls, and third gender including pregnant women and persons with disability – Implemented in Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Sirajganj, and Kurigram districts

Major activities of the above-mentioned projects included Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Kits distribution, cash support distribution, and in-kind support distribution to adolescent girls, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities. Until July 2024, a total of 8,731 beneficiaries including 49 persons with disabilities have received support from these projects.

2023 Humanitarian Response Efforts

In 2023, six projects were carried out as part of humanitarian response efforts, including:

  • CERF Global Response
  • CERF Rapid Response/Emergency Fund
  • Anticipatory Action Project
  • Cyclone Mocha Response
  • Emergency Response to Flash Flood
  • CHT Flash Flood

These projects involved a range of activities such as distributing Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) kits, sensitization meetings, training on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR), MHM, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), livelihood support, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) for beneficiaries. Additionally, certificates were distributed to participants as part of these initiatives.
